- Guard(s): Emanon IW 2011, Bushwackers Color Guard 2009, Pemberton High School 2006-2008
- Equipment handled: Rifle in 2006, Sabre in 07-08. Flag in 09 and ‘11.
- Years in guard: Five seasons in it. Seven years doing it.
- Have you mastered the art of putting on makeup on a bumpy bus ride?: I can only do my makeup correctly on a moving vehicle.
- Do you walk around 24/7 with a “Hey, I’m happy to be here” cheesy grin?: No.
- Can you make up a guard show to ANY random song that comes on the radio?: No. Some songs suck.
- Have you become immune to the pain of a rifle/sabre?: Hahaha no.
- Are the muscles in your wrists, arms, legs, and foreamrs big: Not anymore. m(____)m
- Do write your own choreography in the middle of your house with no music?: Once in a while… in my yard. Not in the middle of my house; it’s called a ceiling that I don’t want to pay for.
- When you run or jog do you find your self subconsiously jazz running?: Only when I’m in socks or barefoot lol.
- Are you accustomed to waking up everyday with sore muscles?: Not anymore. ;_;
- List ALL your guard realated injuries?: Broken toe. Busted lip. Jammed fingers. Broken finger. Bruises.
- Do you write your own choreography?: Yus, I’ve written a few sets for the guard I tech at.
- Do you critique others choreography?: No.
- Do you complain when your drill design is too easy?: Nope, better for me.
- Do you have all of the stretches known to man/woman and can can you perform them properly?: lmao Pretty much.
- Can you re-tape (or tape) a rifle or sabre or flag in under 5 min?: I’m like a taping assembly line all by myself.
- How many brusies do you have at the moment from guard?: Just one and two or three invisible ones.
- Do you have the years averaged for how many more years you can audition for a guard/drum corp?: This summer is my age out. :[
- Do you (Have you ever) designed yor own flags for no reason what-so-ever except personal satisfaction?: Yes. Haha.
- Have you ever danced to a song an realized your moves have come from past choreography?:Of course.
- Does your rifle/sabre/flag have a name?: No, I don’t do that.
- What is it?:
- Do you get upset when someone picks up your equipment…and drops it!?: Nah. Unless I told them not to pick it up.
- Have you ever had a conversation with your equipment?: Many a time.
- Have you ever kissed your butt? (rifle butt that is): Who hasn’t?
- Do you find yourself at practice just “playing” and realized you were doing past years work?: No, I don’t remember that far back.
- The one song you WISH and PRAY you could do as a guard show?:I don’t know?
- When you ‘grow up’ do you want to instruct colorguard/winterguards?: I do some teching now and it’s okay… I’d rather march than teach.
- Do you have any pre-show rituals?: Starbursts, pixie sticks… idk.
Guard Challenge Day 03
Day 03: Favorite performing moment?
During my first season of winter guard, we were doing a Zombie show. I was on rifle, my friend was on flag and we had a partner feature where they would grab our rifle, spin us around, and then pull us down, pretending to slam the rifle on the ground. We would eventually escape and pretend to kick them away. Well, my friend Beth was my partner. One show, she legitimately slammed my rifle down, fingers and all, and I was so shocked that I legitimately kicked her in the back. Maybe it was hysterical to just us, but it was so good.
